This is very special summer for Andros as the new theatre of Andros is now open to public and ready to host the 1st International Festival of the island. The theatre is built with materials that dominate the Andros’s nature like the stones, using the technique of local architecture being able to host up to 900 people. It is accessible to people with special needs, it has a foyer and it is close to the parking. The theatre is also built as an amphitheatre, in the heart of Andros town (Chora) and has a view to the south part of the island. Is there a better way to inaugurate the first season of operation rather than hosting the First International Festival?
The First International Festival of Andros.
Concerts, theatre performances and many other events are scheduled for the first International Festival of Andros. The festival is launching at the first day of August with a music concert by two well known Greek singers (F. Pliatsikas and G. Miliokas) and continues with the jazz trio of G. Trantalidis, G. Kontrafouris and G. Samaras (4/8). The theatrical performances include the «Apology of Socrates», the «Troades» by the Greek National Theatre and the «Acharnes» at the 9th, the 12th and the 17th of August. The music composer K. Polemi will perform at the 20th of the month and the famous Greek singer D. Galani will be on stage at the 25th along with musicians from the island of Andros. Last but not least, the performances by the local cultural organizations, such as the Theatrical Cooperation of Andros which presents the Aristophanes’ «Ecclesiazusae» on 2/8.On 7/8 the 25th Hour theatrical team shows the «Madam Sousou», a famous Greek comedy and on 16/ 8 the Philharmonic Orchestra of Andros will play for the residents and visitors of Andros famous melodies.
